Cowboys DT David Irving Won’t Be Disciplined For Domestic Violence Allegations

Todd Archer of ESPN reports that Cowboys DT David Irving will not be punished by the league under the personal conduct policy stemming from a domestic violence allegation made by a former girlfriend, who later recanted her claims.

Frisco Police later closed their investigation into the allegations after Irving’s ex-girlfriend retracted the claims.

Irving has already been suspended for the first four games of the season after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Irving, 24, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the regular season and later added to the Chiefs’ practice squad.

The Cowboys signed him to their active roster just a few weeks into the 2015 season and brought him back on a one-year, $615,000 exclusive rights contract last year.

Dallas used a second-round restricted tender on Irving a few months ago, which will cost them $2.914 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Irving appeared in eight games and recorded 22 tackles, seven sacks, a forced fumble and six pass defenses.
