Cowboys Expected To Bring Back G La’el Collins From Injured Reserve

Cowboys HC Jason Garrett said Monday that he expects them to bring back G La’el Collins from injured reserve at some point during the postseason.

“He’s worked very hard to come back,” Garrett said, via the Star-Telegram. “We’re going to give him every chance to do that. Whether he’ll be available to practice this week, I don’t know that right now. He’s working with our strength and conditioning coaches. He’s working with our trainers and our rehab guys really each and every day. We’ll see how he does over the course of this week. We’re certainly hopeful at some point he’ll be able to come back this season. We’ll just take his situation day by day.

This doesn’t come as a big surprise, considering that Ian Rapoport of NFL Media previously reported that the Cowboys expected to get Collins back in late December or at some point during the playoffs.

Collins, 23, wound up going undrafted out of LSU, but ultimately signed a three-year, $1.599 million contract that is fully guaranteed and included a $21,000 signing bonus. He stands to make bases salaries of $526,750 and $616,750 over the next two years before testing the open market as a restricted free agent.

The Cowboys placed Collins on injured reserve after he underwent toe surgery to repair a ligament tear in his right big toe.

In 2016, Collins has appeared in three games for the Cowboys and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 71 guard out of 74 qualifying players.
