Cowboys Fire DC Rob Ryan

Rob Ryan was reportedly fired over the phone by Jason Garrett.  Here some Ryan quotes circulating around the internet right now.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Jay Glazer of Fox Sports have both confirmed that the Cowboys have in fact fired DC Rob Ryan.

Ryan has reportedly been telling close friends around the league that he’s been let go by the Cowboys, according to Glazer.

The Jets just let go of their defensive coordinator today, so there’s at least a remote possibility that both Ryan brothers could be on the same staff.

Brian Costello of the New York Post tweets that he just “heard” that the Dallas Cowboys have fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.

Not sure if this is out there but I just heard the Cowboys have fired Rob Ryan.

Dallas wouldn’t go as far to say that he would be brought back for another season, so there was a chance that he could be replaced.

Ryan was hired in 2011, after he was fired by the Browns. The Cowboys ranked 24th in points allowed last season, which is pretty surprising when you consider the kind of talent they have on defensive side of the ball. Injuries definitely played a role in the team’s overall performance this season, but it suggests that Jerry Jones expects them to win now.

One interesting fact about Rob Ryan; In his 9 years as a defensive coordinator, his team has never finished with a winning record.

We’re still waiting to get some sort of confirmation that this is in fact accurate.
