Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins Likely To Miss The Preseason

According to Josh Ellis of DallasCowboys.com, CB Mike Jenkins is “likely” to miss the entire preseason while he recovers from shoulder surgery.

This implies that there’s a good chance that Jenkins may end up missing the first game of the season against the New York Giants. There’s also the possibility that he could end up on the PUP list, depending on how things go for him in the coming weeks.

Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reports that the Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins didn’t receive clearance from Dr. James Andrews following a previous shoulder surgery that he underwent. Jenkins will be out indefinitely.

Dallas could place him on their reserve/PUP list, but adding him to the PUP list would cost him half of the 2012 season. The fact first-round pick CB Morris Claiborne has been dealing with injuries of his own, leaves the Cowboys with some pretty serious question marks as they head into the preseason. This wasn’t supposed to be the case after they signed Brandon Carr to a huge contract and traded up for Claiborne, all in an attempt to solidify one of their biggest weaknesses from a year ago.
