Cowboys Going With A Running Back By Committee Approach?

It seems that the return of Felix Jones will not force DeMarco Murray to the bench as Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett mentioned both Jones and rookie DeMarco Murray will be apart of the teams offense in the coming weeks.

“I think everyone understands that you need more than one back in this league and each of those guys will have a role when Felix comes back,” said Garrett.

Murray has stepped in and arguably played better than Jones has this entire season. Granted it’s only small sample size but Murray has been more than effective for the Cowboys. Jones continually battles through injuries but shows that he has incredible ability if he can stay on the field. It might sound crazy but Jones’s skill set and durability may force the team to consider using him as third-down running back and in passing situations. If you can keep both players healthy and contributing it could help them prevent a game like Week 8’s loss to the Eagles where they couldn’t keep their offense on the field long enough to be compete.
