Cowboys LB Sean Lee Plans To Return For 2019 Season

Calvin Watkins of The Athletic reports that Cowboys LB Sean Lee expects to play in 2019 after mulling over his future the past few months.

Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said last month during an interview with 105.3 The Fan that there is “no one we would love to have back more” than Lee.

“What a special player he is being the wily veteran he is, he probably played the best in that [Rams] game,” Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “He had about 24 plays and I would say he played better, probably played the position better than anybody in that particular game. We want him back. I think he’s a leader on this football team.

Lee, 32, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2010. He’s entering the final year of his seven-year, $42.63 million that included $16.1 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7 million for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Lee appeared in five games for the Cowboys and recorded 27 tackles, a half sack, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.
