Cowboys Not Expected To Sign QB Austin Davis

Todd Archer of ESPN  reports that it’s “not sounding like” the Cowboys and QB Austin Davis will reach an agreement on a contract.

Archer admits that it’s still possible things could change, but he isn’t sure where the Cowboys will turn moving forward.

Dallas is clearly monitoring the waiver wire for potential quarterbacks who could be available. However, there are other teams no in the mix like the Vikings.

The Cowboys brought Davis in for a workout earlier in the week.

Davis, 27, originally signed on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Miss back in 2012. He lasted just over a year with the Rams before signing on to the Dolphins’ practice squad at the start of the 2013 season.

Davis returned to the Rams a few months later. Davis was cut loose at the start of last year and signed by the Browns. However, he was unfortunately among their roster cuts earlier in the week.

In 2015, Davis appeared in three games for the Browns and threw for 547 yards while completing 59.6 percent of his passes to go along with one touchdown and three interceptions.
