Cowboys Parting Ways With Monte Kiffin

Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas reports that Monte Kiffin will not be returning to the Cowboys’ coaching staff next season.

A source tells Archer that Kiffin would like to continue coaching in some capacity next year.

The Cowboys’ coaching staff was expected to undergo some changes this offseason, so this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.

Kiffin, 74, served as the Cowboys’ assistant head coach/defense after the team made the decision to remove him as their defensive coordinator and promote Rod Marinelli.

He has coached 28 years in the NFL and helped build the Buccaneers vaunted defense that led to the only Super Bowl title in franchise history back in 2002.

In 2013, Kiffin oversaw a Cowboys defense that is among the worst units in franchise history.
