Cowboys Place 2nd-Rd Tender On DT David Irving

David Moore reports that the Cowboys have placed a second-round tender on RFA DT David Irving.

The second-round restricted tender will cost the Cowboys $2.914 million for the 2018 season, but ensure that they will receive a second-round pick in return for him should they decide to not match any offer he receives in free agency.

Irving, 24, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the regular season and later added to the Chiefs’ practice squad.

The Cowboys signed him to their active roster just a few weeks into the 2015 season and brought him back on a one-year, $615,000 exclusive rights contract last year.

In 2017, Irving appeared in eight games and recorded 22 tackles, seven sacks, a forced fumble and six pass defenses.
