Cowboys Place MLB Sean Lee On Season-Ending IR

The Dallas Cowboys officially placed MLB Sean Lee on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday, according to the NFL Transactions release.

This news comes just minutes after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Ravens have traded ILB Rolando McClain and a seventh-round pick to the Cowboys in return for sixth-round selection.

There was some hope that Lee would be able to return later in the season, but this obliviously puts that idea to rest.

Lee, 27, has dealt with numerous injuries dating back to his time at Penn State, so this is hardly the type of situation the Cowboys want to see on Day one of offseason workouts.

In 2012, Lee has missed 11 games, but that wasn’t enough of a concern to prevent the Cowboys from signing him to a seven-year, $42.63 million contract that included $16.1 million guaranteed last August.

When healthy, Lee has proven to be a Pro-Bowl caliber player. Despite missing five games in 2013, Lee accumulated 99 tackles and four interceptions with one being returned for a touchdown.
