Cowboys Place Rookie DE Charles Tapper On I.R. & Sign OT Emmett Cleary

The Dallas Cowboys have placed rookie DE Charles Tapper on injured reserve Wednesday with a back and signed OT Emmett Cleary, per Nick Eatmon.

Tapper, 23, was taken with the No. 101 overall pick by the Cowboys in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $2.95 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.

During his college career at Oklahoma, Tapper recorded 135 tackles, 13.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, two recoveries and six pass defenses.

Cleary, 26, originally signed on with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College. Unfortunately, he was among New York’s final roster cuts as they trimmed down to 53 players coming out of the preseason.

He has yet to appear during an NFL game.
