Cowboys Have No Plans Make Any Changes To Their Defensive Coaching Staff

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that there is no one he would rather have to fix the Cowboys defensive problems than DC Monte Kiffin.

“To fix what we’re doing, there’s nobody I’d rather have than him and Rod Marinelli, and where we are today to get this fixed over the next week, two weeks, three weeks,” Jones said, via Pro Football Talk. “There’s nobody I’d rather have than him to fix it. First of all, he knows what we’re doing better than anyone, and if there are adjustments to be made, he’s the right man for the job right now.

Clearly, Jones has no plans to replace Kiffin as defensive coordinator, despite an atrocious performance against the Bears last night. Dallas currently ranks as the No. 32 team in passing defense and No. 28 against the run.

It’s worth mentioning that the Cowboys defense has been decimated by injuries this season, so it’s not as though they have many of their starters out there.

Last year, Jones fired Rob Ryan for poor results and yet the team has looked far worse under Kiffin, who implemented the Tampa-2 defense scheme this season. Meanwhile, Ryan has managed to turn around a historically bad Saints defense in just one year.

This isn’t to say that Ryan would have had the same success with the Cowboys had he stayed, but it is just a bad look for Cowboys’ leadership.
