Cowboys Prepared To Part With OLB Anthony Spencer?

ESPN’s Ed Werder joined SportsCenter on Friday to discuss the Cowboy’s recent hiring of defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin and also mentioned that this move will likely result in Dallas parting ways with OLB Anthony Spencer in the coming weeks, via Rotoworld.

This is an idea that mentioned just a little while ago as Spencer’s value on the open market is related to him playing a rush linebacker position instead of 4-3 defensive end. That’s not to say that he’s incapable of playing defensive end in 4-3 scheme, but he could probably secure a much better contract from a 3-4 team.

Spencer, 29, is coming off of a great season for the Cowboys in which he totaled 95 tackles, 11 sacks and two forced fumbles. Pro Football Focus actually rated him as the No. 1 outside linebacker in 3-4 defensive schemes and we have him listed as the No. 16 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
