Felix Jones Back With The Cowboys Next Season?

Calvin Watkins of ESPN writes that there’s a chance the Cowboys could re-sign RB Felix Jones this offseason, despite the fact that he comes with some obvious injury concerns.

It’s doubtful Jones will receive a big money contract with another team to become a starter because of his inconsistency, but maybe, just maybe, Jones can sign a one-year contract and become a dependable backup to [DeMarco] Murray,” writes Watkins.

Jones started six games last season after DeMarco Murray was injured.  While Jones wasn’t as productive as Murray would have been during that stretch, Watkins points to the fact that Jones is good in pass protection and new running backs coach Gary Brown as someone who could revitalize his career.

The Cowboys have limited cap space to work with this offseason, so there’s no question that they’ll be looking for some decent values on the open market. If Jones is willing to accept a reasonable contract, there’s at least a small chance he could be re-upped in the coming weeks.
