Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar On Season-Ending I.R. & Promote WR Vince Mayle

Todd Archer of ESPN reports that the Dallas Cowboys placed Lance Dunbar on season-ending injured reserve Saturday, and signed WR Vince Mayle off their practice squad.

Dallas, unfortunately, lose Dunbar for the season after he sustained a torn ACL while returning a kick last weekend. His leg twisted underneath him awkwardly and he immediately threw the ball away and grabbed for his knee, so it was a clear indication that he likely had a major knee injury.

Dunbar, 25, wound up signing a one-year, $1.542 million contract with the Cowboys back in April, and was looking like an impact player in the team’s offense.

Over the course of four games, Dunbar has rushed for 67 yards on five carries (13.4 YPC) to go along with 21 receptions for 215 yards receiving. He also contributed 146 kick return yards.

Mayle, 24, was taken in the fourth round of this year’s NFL Draft by the Browns. However, he was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad.
