Cowboys Receive One-Week Roster Exemption For DE Demarcus Lawrence

Todd Archer reports that the Cowboys will receive a one-week roster exemption for DE Demarcus Lawrence, who has finished severing his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

This means that the Cowboys can wait until later in the week before cutting someone in order for Lawrence to be available for their Week 5 game.

Lawrence, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2014. He’s in the third year of his four-year, $5,506,650 rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $920,604 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Lawrence appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and recorded 55 tackles, eight sacks, and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 18 edge rusher out of 110 qualifying players.
