Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Cowboys have received calls from NFL teams interested in trading for RB Darren McFadden.

  • However, Rapoport says that Dallas “really wants to keep him.

ESPN’s Todd Archer previously mentioned the possibility that the Cowboys could make McFadden available for trade, considering their depth at the position.

McFadden was placed on the active/non-football injury list a few months ago after he broke his elbow in an accident at his home around a month ago.

McFadden, 28, is in the final year of his two-year, $3 million contract that included a $200,000 signing bonus. He stands to make a base salary of $1.25 million for the 2016 season before testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent next year.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading will free up $2.05 million in available cap space while creating $100,000 in dead money.

In 2015, McFadden appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and ran for 1,089 yards on 239 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with 40 receptions for 328 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 42 running back out of 69 qualifying players.
