Todd Archer reports that the Cowboys are releasing veteran S Jeron Johnson as they work to get down to the 53-man roster limit.

Other reported roster cuts for the Cowboys include:

  1. WR Ricky Jeune
  2. OT Korren Kirven
  3. DE Kony Ealy
  4. LB/S Eric Pinkins
  5. OL Chaz Green
  6. DE Charles Tapper
  7. WR Lance Lenoir
  8. S Marqueston Huff
  9. CB Marquez White
  10. S Jeron Johnson

Johnson, 30, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Boise State back in 2011. He spent four years in Seattle before signing a two-year, $2.5 million with the Redskins in 2015.

Washington released Johnson after one year and he had brief stints with the Chiefs and Seahawks before signed on with the Jaguars in August of last year. Unfortunately, Johnson was cut a few weeks later and sat out the 2017 season.

The Cowboys signed him to a contract in August, making his stay in Dallas short-lived.

In 2016, Johnson appeared in four games and recorded five tackles and no interceptions.
