Cowboys Sign DT Josh Brent To A One-Year Extension

Field Yates of ESPN, citing a source, reports that Cowboys DT Josh Brent has signed a one-year extension through the 2015 season.

  • Yates adds that the contract is worth $745,000 and includes no bonus and no guaranteed money.
  • Aaron Wilson mentions that Brent signed the deal two days ago.

Brent served a 180-day prison sentence after he was convicted of intoxication manslaughter. He was released from prison in June and finished out the remainder of his sentence in a substance abuse center.

Brent, 26, is still serving a 10-game suspension but was eligible to visit the Cowboys facility after week, and allowed to practice in week nine.

Brent last appeared in an NFL game during the 2012 season. He recorded 22 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
