Cowboys Officially Sign LB Dekoda Watson, Waive LB Keith Smith

Update:

The Dallas Cowboys officially announced the signing of LB Dekoda Watson on Friday, as well as the release of LB Keith Smith.

The Cowboys promoted Smith to their active roster close to a month ago. He’s appeared in three games and recorded just two tackles.

Smith, 22, signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of San Jose State this past May, but was waived at the end of August as the team cut their roster down to 53 players.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that the Cowboys are signing LB Dekoda Watson to a contract.

The Jacksonville Jaguars waived Watson earlier in the week as they made room for DB Teddy Williams, who was claimed off of waivers from the Chicago Bears on Tuesday.

Watson, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He spent four years with the Bucs before signing a three-year, $6.25 million contract with Jacksonville back in March.

He has appeared in nine games and recorded 14 total tackles this season.
