Cowboys Sign P Chris Jones To Four-Year, $8.7M Extension

Todd Archer of ESPN, citing multiple sources, is reporting that the Cowboys have signed punter Chris Jones to a four-year extension through 2021.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Jones receives a four-year, $8.7 million extension from the Cowboys with $4.5 million guaranteed.

Jones, 28, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Carson-Newman back in 2011. He has spent all six years of his NFL career in Dallas and was in the final year of his three-year, $4.2 million contract that included $750,000 guaranteed.

Jones stands to make a base salary of $1.5 million for the 2017 season and would have been an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2016, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and totaled 2,469 yards on 58 attempts to go along with four touchbacks.
