Cowboys Sign Veteran DT Amobi Okoye

Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys have signed DT Amobi Okoye to a contract on Friday.

  • Okoye receives a two-year contract from the Cowboys, per Adam Caplan.

Dallas actually showed interest in Okoye last year, but never signed him, despite the fact that they were in obvious need of help at defensive tackle after injuries started to add up.

Okoye, 26, wound up sitting out the entire 2013 season after finding almost no interest outside of the Cowboys. It’s worth noting that he was dealing with a medical issue that almost certainly factored into him sitting out the entire 2013 season.

Before that, he had spent two years with the Bears after he completed his rookie contract with the Texans. It seems likely that he’ll still have to compete for his roster spot during training camp.
