Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys are signing former 49ers WR A.J. Jenkins to a contract on Tuesday.

  • Jenkins was among a group of free agents who worked out for Dallas last week.

Jenkins, 25, was taken with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2012 draft by the San Francisco 49ers. However, he lasted just a year with the team before he was traded to the Chiefs in return for fellow draft bust Jonathan Baldwin.

Kansas City ultimately elected to release Jenkins back in February.

Jenkins has appeared in just 28 games over the course of three season and made three starts. In three years, he’s caught 17 passes for 223 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
