Cowboys Strongly Considering Moving La’El Collins Back To Guard

Ian Rapoport mentions that with the Cowboys bringing in free agent offensive tackles LaAdrian Waddle and Cameron Fleming for visits this week (NFLTR), it’s clear that Dallas is “strongly considering” moving La’El Collins back to guard for the 2018 season.

The Cowboys took a chance on Collins playing right tackle last year, and the results weren’t as good as they were hoping.

Collins, 24, wound up going undrafted out of LSU, but ultimately signed a three-year, $1.599 million contract that is fully guaranteed and included a $21,000 signing bonus. He was set to make a base salary of $616,750 for the 2017 season when the Cowboys signed him to a two-year, $15.4 million extension through the 2019 season last summer.

Collins was set to make base salaries of $4.5 million and $6.51 million over the next two years of the agreement when he agreed to a restructured contract last month.

In 2017, Collins appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 56 offensive tackle out of 82 qualifying players.
