Cowboys To Wait Until After The Season Before Considering Extension For Jason Garrett

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that even with a big road victory over the Seahawks, the Cowboys have no intention to sign HC Jason Garrett to a contract extension right now.

According to Rapoport, Dallas is more likely to see how the season goes and reconsider the idea during the offseason.

Garrett is in his fourth year as the Cowboys head coach, but this is the first time his tenure that Dallas has actually looked like they have taken a step as a team. His regular season record with the Cowboys is 33-28 (.541), which does not include a playoff appearance.

There is still a long ways to go in the 2014 season and the Cowboys aren’t assured anything at this point in the year, so it would seem likely that Dallas would need to continue their success into the playoffs in order for them to consider retaining Garrett as their head coach.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing plenty about this topic in the coming months.
