On Monday, Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones was asked about G Zack Martin’s contract situation and he indicated that an agreement could be in place at some point in the near future.

“It’s awfully close. I hope he’ll be out at (minicamp) tomorrow,” Jones said, per Jon Machota.

Ian Rapoport reports that a deal between the Cowboys and Martin is considered imminent.

The Cowboys have made it clear that signing Martin to a long-term extension is atop their offseason priorities and it sounds like it’s possible they could have an agreement in place before the start of training camp.

It will be interesting to see what kind of money Martin is able to get, as he could very end up being the highest-paid guard in the NFL.

Martin, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2014. He was in the final year of his four-year, $8.967 million contract when the Cowboys picked up his fifth-year option for the 2018 season.

Martin will make $9.341 million for the 2018 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2017, Martin appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 1 guard out of 77 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
