Cowboys Waive G Jared Smith With Injury Designation

The Dallas Cowboys officially placed G Jared Smith on waivers Tuesday with an injury designation.

This move frees up a roster spot for newly signed C Dan Buchholz.

Should Smith clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.

Smith, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2013. He was on and off of the team’s practice squad during the 2013 season until he was waived back in July of last year.

The Falcons signed him to a contract in March of last year,, but he was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason. Smith would later sign a future/reserve contract with the Cowboys this past January.

During his college career, he was a defensive lineman and recorded 129 tackles (59 solo) 12.5 sacks, 26 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
