Cowboys Waive LB Jayrone Elliott

According to Drew Davison, the Dallas Cowboys have placed LB Jayrone Elliott on waivers Tuesday, which will create a roster spot for DE Damontre Moore, who is returning from suspension.

  • The Cowboys also released G Nate Theaker from their practice squad and signed S Jameill Showers to the unit.

Elliott, 25, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out Toledo back in 2014. He played out the final year of his three-year, $1,535,000 rookie contract with the Packers but did not receive a restricted offer from the team, which is why he’s been testing the open market.

Elliott signed with the Packers this offseason after receiving interest from the Bills and Steelers. However, he was traded to the Cowboys at the start of the regular season for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2018

In 2016, Elliott appeared in 11 games for the Packers and recorded 19 tackles and sack.
