Cowboys Waive RB Trey Williams

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Cowboys have placed RB Trey Williams on waivers Monday.

This is likely the corresponding roster move to make room for RB Ezekiel Elliott to return from his six-game suspension.

Williams, 25, originally signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M back in 2015. He’s played for a number of teams including the Cowboys, Patriots, Dolphins, and Colts before joining the Steelers this past February on a future/reserve contract.

Unfortunately, the Steelers waived Williams coming out of the preseason. He later signed on to the Cowboys’ practice squad in November before being promoted to the active roster.

In 2015, Williams appeared in two games and rushed for 12 yards on two carries.
