According to Clarence Hill, the Cowboys will look to bring in a veteran quarterback in the coming days now that Tony Romo is expected to be out between 6-10 weeks, due to a broken bone in his back.
The Cowboys have made it clear that rookie Dak Prescott will open the season as their starting quarterback, but it sounds like they would prefer to have at least someone on their roster with some NFL experience.
Dallas does have Jameill Showers on their roster as well.
Ed Werder wonders if teams may elect to keep their veteran backup quarterbacks and force the Cowboys to trade for someone.
The Cowboys were previously linked to Browns veteran Josh McCown, but reports said that the Browns were looking for at least a fourth-round pick in return for him.
There really isn’t all that much in the free agent pool right now, so it will be interesting to see who ends up being available once teams get closer to the 53-man roster limit.
