Cowboys Work Out Former First-Round G Jonathan Cooper

Todd Archer of ESPN reports that the Cowboys brought in former first-round pick G Jonathan Cooper for a workout on Tuesday.

According to Archer, the Cowboys are currently discussing whether to add Cooper to the active roster. However, it remains to be seen how Dallas would do so, considering that they’re expected to bring back G La’el Collins (toe) from injured reserve.

This is the first reported interest in Cooper since he recently cleared waivers.

Cooper, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013. The Cardinals traded him to the Patriots as part of the Chandler Jones trade. Although, New England declined to pick up Cooper’s fifth-year option back in May and later cut him loose a few months ago.

The Browns later claimed him off of waivers from New England before cutting him loose a few weeks ago.

In 2016, Cooper appeared in six games for the Browns and Patriots.
