Cowboys Worked Out 6 Players Including QB Garrett Gilbert

Todd Archer of ESPN reports that the Cowboys brought in six players for tryouts on Tuesday including QB Garrett Gilbert.

The other players include WR Uzoma Nwachukwu, WR Brian Burnham, WR Quincy McDuffie, WR Corey Washington and TE Andy McCleneghen.

Of this group, the Cowboys signed McDuffie to a future/reserve contract.

It is, however, interesting to see the Cowboys bring in a quarterback, considering that Mark Sanchez and Kellen Moore are both set to become free agents in the coming weeks.

Gilbert, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Rams. However, his time in St. Louis was short lived as he was waived at the start of the 2014 season before later signing to the Rams’ practice squad.

After a brief stint with the Patriots, Gilbert was later claimed by the Lions. Unfortunately, Gilbert was unable to make the Lions’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but spent the entire 2015 season on the Raiders’ practice squad.

The Raiders cut him loose last May only to bring him back after Derek Carr got hurt towards the end of the season.

Gilbert has yet to appear in an NFL game.
