Cowboys Working Out DE Owa Odighizuwa

According to Jon Machota, the Dallas Cowboys are bringing free agent DE Owa Odighizuwa for a workout on Tuesday.

Odighizuwa has been a popular player in recent weeks, as he’s tried out for the Patriots, Redskins, Jets and Buccaneers.

Odighizuwa, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Giants back in 2015. He was in the third year of his four-year, $3.16 million rookie contract and set to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the final two years of the agreement when he was waived during the preseason.

In a surprising move, Odighizuwa decided to not attend the Giants’ minicamp and posted a tweet in which he hinted at possibly retiring from the NFL. Although, he later clarified that he wasn’t walking away from football.

Odighizuwa was suspended for the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the league’s PED policy back in August and waived by the Giants soon after.

Since being waived, he has worked out for the Patriots, Redskins, and Jets, but was not signed to a contract.

In 2016, Odighizuwa appeared in 14 games for the Giants and recorded three tackles, no sacks and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 170 total snaps last season.
