Cowboys Working Out Players Including LB Tim Dobbins

Charean Williams of Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys are bringing a few players for workouts on Wednesday including G Jeff Baca, LB Tim Dobbins and LB Will Smith.

Williams points out that the Cowboys have some obvious needs following the injuries to OLB Justin Durant and G Ronald Leary.

Dobbins is the most notable player of this group. The Patriots brought him in for a workout a few weeks, but nothing ever came of the visit.

Dobbins, 31, signed with the Falcons after they sustained some injuries during training camp, but he was ultimately released as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

Before that, Dobbins played for the Texans after signing a one-year contract with the team last April. However, he lasted only until October before being released.

Smith, 22, was the Cowboys seventh-round selection this past May, but he has already been cut and released from their practice squad.

Smith played just two years of college football at Texas Tech. He totaled 175 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks and two pass defenses during this time.
