Dallas Out Of The Running For Carl Nicks & Mario Williams After The NFL’s Ruling

The NFL’s decision to enforce rules regarding teams that dumped salary during the uncapped year of 2010 has cost the Dallas Cowboys the ability to pursue some of the top free  agents in this years market, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Previous reports had mentioned that the Cowboys were considering making runs at free agents Carl Nicks and Mario Williams but the fact that the NFL wiped away $10 million in cap space has left them in the red. At this point, it’s going to be difficult for them to even fill out their roster with modest priced free agents. I’d expect to see someone get cut, possibly Terence Newman, in the coming days. Dallas could also look to renegotiate some contracts to free up some extra cash.
