Darrell Bevell Name To Watch For Falcons’ Offensive Coordiantor Job

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, there’s expected to be significant changes to the Falcons’ coaching staff including both offensive and defensive coordinator.

Rapoport mentions that Darrell Bevell is the name to watch as a potential replacement for Steve Sarkisian, given that he’s spent some time around the team. Beyond that Bevell has ties to HC Dan Quinn from their time together in Seattle.

Regarding Quinn’s status, Rapoport says he’s expected to return for the 2019 season, despite the disappointing 2018 season.

Bevell, 49, began his NFL coaching career with the Packers as an assistant quarterbacks coach in 2000. He eventually worked his way up to QBs coach before being hired by the Vikings as their offensive coordinator in 2006.

After five years in Minnesota, Bevell signed on with the Seahawks for the 2011 season and spent the past seven years in Seattle before he was fired last year.

In 2017, the Seahawks’ offense was No. 15 in total yards, No. 11 in points scored, No. 23 in yards rushing and No. 14 in passing offense.
