Darren Sproles Attending Eagles’ Mandatory Minicamp

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports Eagles RB Darren Sproles will attend mandatory minicamp after missing the voluntary portion of the offseason program.

Recent reports have said that teams had called the Eagles about a potential trade for Sproles during the draft, so his absence during OTAs led to some speculation about his future with the team.

The Eagles downplayed Sproles not being in attendance for voluntary workouts, and the expectation has been all along that he would show up for mandatory workouts.

Sproles, 32, is in the final year of his three-year, $10.5 million contract that included $5.5 million guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Sproles would free up $3.5 million in available cap space while creating $1 million in dead money.

In 2015, Sproles appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and ran for 317 yards on 83 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 55 receptions for 388 yards receiving and four total touchdowns. He also contributed 446 punt return yards and two touchdowns.
