Report: Giants Close To Re-Signing K Josh Brown

Update:

Connor Orr of the NJ.com reports that the Giants are “close to wrapping up a deal” for free agent K Josh Brown.

Previous reports indicated that a deal was  “imminent and likely,” so this doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

Brown, 34, converted 23 of 26 field goals attempts during the 2013 season with a long of 52 yards. He joins a free agent pool of kickers that includes: Phil Dawson (SF), Steven Hauschka (SEA), Graham Gano (CAR) and Adam Vinatieri (IND).

According to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, a deal between the Giants and impending free agent K Josh Brown appears to be “imminent and likely.”

“I absolutely would love to be back with the Giants. I conveyed that with them,” Brown said on Wednesday. “I was picking up that they were feeling the same exact way.”

Brown, who just finished his first season with the Giants, added that he is keeping his contract expectations reasonable as free agency draws closer.

“I’m not looking to make it rain here or anything. I have three children and a wife and I just want to support my family that way as long as I can in this league,” Brown said. “My exit meetings were great and I know they are doing evaluations and the things they need to do. I look forward to talking with them very soon.”

Raanan adds that Brown expects to meet with the Giants in the coming days or possibly after the Super Bowl depending on things play out, but it appears as though both sides would like to get a deal done quickly.
