Ryan Grant Fails Physical, Deal With Ravens Null & Void

Update:

Adam Schefter confirms the news and adds that WR Ryan Grant failed his physical with the Ravens and his four-year, $29 million contract is now null and void.

  • Schefter adds that Grant will have to find another deal with another team willing to pass him on his physical.
  • The specific injury that led to the failed physical, according to Schefter, was an ankle injury that dated back to the Redskins’ final regular-season game.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that a holdup in the expected deal between the Ravens and WR Ryan Grant after Baltimore discovered something during his physical that has them concerned.

  • According to Rapoport, the Ravens are concerned about the kind of guaranteed money they were prepared to commit to Grant before he took his physical. Grant was set to sign a four-year, $29 million contract that includes $14.5M guaranteed for injury.
  • The Ravens have reportedly hit pause on the deal and it’s unclear if Grant will even sign with the Ravens now or move on.

Grant, 27, is a former fifth-round pick by the Redskins out of Tulane in the 2014 NFL Draft. He just finished a four-year, $2,433,612 rookie contract and is testing the open market for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2017, Grant appeared in all 16 games for the Redskins and recorded 45 receptions for 573 yards receiving (12.7 YPC) and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 57 out of 116 qualifiers.
