DeAngelo Hall’s Final Season In Washington?

Chris Russell of ESPN 980 Washington reports that league sources have informed him that the Redskins owe CB DeAngelo Hall no guaranteed money for the remainder of his contract.

Russell’s sources added that Hall could be released before June 1st and would not count against the team’s salary cap. This means that Washington could save $8 million dollars in 2013 and $9.5 million for the 2014 season.

Given Hall’s issues, it seems very possible that Washington could end up releasing him after the season.

Rich Campbell of the Washington Times writes that CB DeAngelo Hall ejection from Sunday’s game “will work against [him] when the Redskins decide in the offseason whether to bring him back.

Campbell adds that the team structured his contract so that the $15 million signing bonus he was given is not prorated beyond the 2012 season.

Hall, 28, has $7.5 million base salary in 2013, but considering that the team made the decision to pay him that lump sum of money upfront, they wouldn’t take a huge cap hit from releasing him after the season.

Pro Football Focus has Hall rated as the No. 97 best cornerback out of 102 this season, which just illustrates his issues further. It’s safe to suggest that Hall will be reevaluated during the offseason.
