DeMarco Murray Confident He Can Make $8M In Next Contract

Update:

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that free agent RB DeMarco Murray is willing to move on from the Cowboys if a better opportunity presents itself.

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that free agent RB DeMarco Murray and his camp are confident there are teams willing to pay him $8 million per year.

  • Getlin wonders if the Cowboys will be willing to offer him that kind of money.

Last we heard, Charles Robinson reported that an opportunity has opened for the Jaguars to sign Murray and they were expected to “push hard” to price the Cowboys out of the market for him.

Robinson mentions that Murray would likely have to take less to return to the Cowboys next season, as Dallas is reportedly unwilling to commit to the big-money contract that LeSean McCoy and Marshawn Lynch recently received.

Murray, 26, was extremely impressive this season. He ran for 1,845 yards on 393 carries (4.7 YPC) and scored 13 touchdowns, over the course of 16 games and added another 57 receptions for 416 yards receiving.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 running back in the league out of 57 qualifying players.

We have Murray listed as the No. 9 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
