DeSean Jackson Latest Client to Join Jay-Z’s Roc Nation?

Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson released his agent, the bubbly-personalitied Drew Rosenhaus, last week. The original intent was unclear, but now the Philadelphia Inquirer has an educated guess as to why.

Jeff McLane wrote Monday morning that Jackson is eyeing rapper Jay-Z to be his newest representative.

Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which began representing professional athletes only months ago, has already wrangled in the likes of athletes like Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees, rookie Geno Smith of the New York Jets, Skylar Diggins of the Tulsa Shock and Victor Cruz of Jackson’s NFC East foe New York Giants.

Due to NFL rules, Jackson has to wait at least five days after firing Rosenhaus before he can sign another agent.

Under Rosenhaus, Jackson signed a hefty five-year, $51 million deal following a franchise tagging by the Eagles. The deal though contains very little guaranteed money after the first two years, making him a possible outcast if Philadelphia needs to cut corners down the road financially.
