DeSean Jackson Unlikely To Be Back With Buccaneers

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, Buccaneers WR DeSean Jackson is unlikely to return to the team for next season.

Bruce [Arians], you’ve got your work cut out for you, buddy,” Garafolo said. “From what I gather, DeSean Jackson… So we’re focusing on Antonio Brown, this offseason, I believe this is going to be the No. 2 wide receiver storyline with DeSean Jackson.

Yesterday, Jackson told TMZ Sports that he has yet to speak with new HC Bruce Arians, who has said he’s hoping to convince Jackson to remain in Tampa Bay.

Jackson said “we’ll see” when asked if there was a way to work things out with the Buccaneers.

“That’s what I got an agent for, bro,” Jackson said. “I don’t know, I just go play. That’s all I worry about.

A few weeks ago, Josina Anderson of ESPN reported that Jackson wants to move on this offseason, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise. According to Anderson, issues began to fester following the Buccaneers’ game against the 49ers, which led to an exchange with former HC Dirk Koetter over him not practicing through a hand injury.

Anderson listed the Eagles, Redskins and possibly the Rams as potential landing spots for Jackson.

It’s worth mentioning that Jackson requested a trade before last year’s deadline, but the Buccaneers ultimately held onto him.

Jackson, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2008. He spent six years with the Eagles before signing a three-year, $24 million contract with the Redskins back in 2014.

After three years with the Redskins, Jackson once again departed in free agency and agreed to a three-year, $35 million contract that includes $20 million guaranteed with the Buccaneers. He stands to make a base salary of $10 million for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Jackson appeared in 12 games for the Buccaneers and caught 41 passes for 774 yards receiving and four touchdowns. He has also rushed for 29 yards and a touchdown.

We’ll have more regarding Jackson as the news is available.
