Desmond Bishop Contract Details

Tom Pelissero reports that the Minnesota Vikings agreement with LB Desmond Bishop is actually a one-year deal worth $750,000, and includes only $50,000 guaranteed.

  • ESPN 1500 reports that Bishop’s contract has a max value of $1.35 million.
  • According to the Packer Report, Bishop’s contract with the Vikings is worth just a few grand more than what Green Bay was offering back in March.

The $600,000 difference between his base salary and max value is likely based on $100,000 in roster bonuses, and $500,000 in incentives related to playing time.

Bishop, 28, is coming off of a pretty serious hamstring injury and reportedly suffered a muscle strain that prevent him from participating in Green Bay’s minicamp, so it’s really not all that surprising to see him secure this kind of contract on the open market.

2013 figures to be a big year for him as he has everything to prove ahead of free agency. He’ll most likely have to compete with Erin Henderson for the team’s starting middle linebacker job.
