Devin Hester A “Long-Shot” To Be Part Of The Bears Offense In 2013

Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com writes that “it seems like a long-shot” that Devin Hester will have much of any role in team’s offense next season.

Dickerson mentions that the Bears could keep Hester as their return man for another season given that he still has another year left on his deal, but adds that he“would probably benefit from a fresh start in a new NFL city.

There’s a chance that Chicago could look to add another receiver at some point during the offseason. The Bears already have Brandon Marshall locked up through 2014 and spent a second-round draft pick on Alshon Jeffery last year, but they could use some additional help in case of an injury.

Dickerson mentions that it’s “still unknown” whether or not Johnny Knox will ever play again, so it seems unlikely that he would be re-signed now that he’s coming off of a serious injury to his spine.

If Chicago is indeed interested in adding depth to their receiving corps, it would make sense to see them look to the draft or target some of the cheaper options in the free agent market, versus spending big on another receiver.
