Dolphins Back To Using Reggie Bush In Hybrid Capacity?

Dolphins RB Reggie Bush seems to think that his role is the team’s offense is “going to be a little different from last year” now that they’re moving in a new direction with the addition of Joe Philbin.

Last year, the Dolphins used Bush as a between-the-tackles running back, which was certainly a shock to most, but this season the Dolphins figure to get back to using him as a hybrid player.

“I think I will be pretty balanced,” said Bush, via the Palm Beach Post. “Hearing them talk, they want to run the ball just as much as they want to throw the ball. Obviously I think my role is going to be a little bit different from last year. I’m going to be split out wide a little bit more, playing more receiver, but for the most part I think we’re still going to run the ball.”

This suggests that Miami will look to Daniel Thomas to handle a larger work load on first and second downs, but they also drafted Lamar Miller, so he too could see some amount of playing time depending on how he does during the team’s training camp.
