Dolphins C Mike Pouncey Could Miss Season Opener Due To Hip Injury

Dolphins HC Adam Gase told reporters on Sunday that C Mike Pouncey will miss the remainder of the preseason, due to a left hip injury.

Gase added Pouncey’s new hip injury could lead to him missing their regular season opener, per Armando Salguero.

Pouncey underwent hip surgery during the offseason on his right hip, so this is clearly concerning for one of the Dolphins’ best offensive lineman.

Pouncey, 27, is in the second year of his six-year, $52.438 million contract that includes $22 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $9 million in 2016.

In 2015, Pouncey appeared in 14 games and recorded Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 7 center out of 41 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Pouncey’s status as the news is available.
