Dolphins Claim DE Nick Williams Off Waivers From Chiefs, Place S Reshad Jones On I.R.

The Miami Dolphins announced that they’ve claimed DE Nick Williams off waivers from the Chiefs and have placed S Reshad Jones on injured reserve.

Williams, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the Steelers from last year. He spent just over a year in Pittsburgh before the Chiefs signed him off of the Steelers’ practice squad.

Kansas City elected to bring Williams back on an exclusive rights contract this past April before cutting him loose on Tuesday.

In 2016, Williams has appeared in five games and recorded five tackles and no sacks for the Chiefs.

Jones, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2010. He’s currently in the fourth year of his five-year, $30.81 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7.225 million for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Jones has appeared in six games for the Dolphins and recorded 51 tackles, one interception, a half sack and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 3 safety out of 86 qualifying players.
