Dolphins Could Be An Option For Seahawks DC Dan Quinn?

Update:

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports is now reporting that there is “no chance” of the Dolphins hiring Dan Quinn as their next head coach.

According to La Canfora, if a team is willing to wait for him, he’s their’s.

Jason La Canfora has spoken to a few teams who are worried that if they wait for Seahawks DC Dan Quinn to be available, he could end up taking the Miami Dolphins job given his ties to new executive Mike Tannenbaum.

The Dolphins hired Tannenbaum as their executive vice president of football operations after he spent a year as a consultant to owner Stephen Ross.

Tannenbaum was working as Quinn’s agent, but he will no longer negotiate his contract, as it would have been a conflict of interest now that he holds a high-level position with an NFL team.

La Canfora mentions that it’s possible the Dolphins could make this move regardless of what Ross said about HC Joe Philbin being safe before the end of season.

According to La Canfora, there are some skeptics who think the Dolphins could make a play for Quinn. This was reportedly a concern for the Jets, at least to some degree.

It’s worth mentioning that the Bears, Falcons, 49ers, and Broncos are still options for Quinn when he’s available to meet with team’s again.

It could be another three weeks before Quinn is available given that the Seahawks are well positioned for another Super Bowl title.

This works in the Dolphins favor as they already have a head coach in place, while other teams are still trying to sort through their options.
