Dolphins Could Begin Contract Discussions With Reggie Bush In The Near Future

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald writes that the Dolphins and Reggie Bush did not discuss a contract extension before the start of the current season.

Bush, 27, is currently in the final year of his contract, but the two sides are expected to begin discussions “at some point within the next month.

Bush has managed to get off to an incredible start for the Dolphins. He has accumulated 241 yards rushing on 40 carries, which comes out to a staggering 6 yards per carry. This is after just two games, but Bush was surprisingly effective last season as well.

The Dolphins may allow Bush to leave during offseason, since they have already used a second and fourth round pick on Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller respectively, but that’s taking a pretty big risk, considering that Thomas has yet to prove anything. Overpaying for Bush could end up being a huge mistake long-term if his ability and speed declines or he suffers a serious injury. Either way, Bush’s success makes for a pretty interesting topic to watch in the coming months.
